Dream Fulfills 99-Year-Old California Woman Getting a College Degree.
Here is a testimony to “it’s never too late.”
If this doesn’t inspire you to brush yourself off and try, try and try again, we don’t know what will!
Yesterday, surrounded by mostly 18- to 25-year-old graduates, 99-year-old Doreetha Daniels strutted across the stage and finally fulfilled her dream of receiving her associates degree from the College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, California. Back in 2009 when Doreetha first started taking classes, the great-grandmother made it her goal to get a degree before turning 100, and she broke the record as the school’s oldest graduate since the college first opened its doors 45 years ago.
However, Doreetha was on campus studying with tutors and doing homework twice a week to make sure she reached her goal of graduating on time. According to her on-campus tutor Liz:
“Doreetha is a living testament to the saying ‘if there is a will, there is a way. Her desire to get out of bed each day and come to school and face the challenges in and outside of the classroom inspired us all. She is truly an amazing woman who has impacted my life and I feel so fortunate that I was able to experience her journey alongside her.” reports Necolebitchie.
